My top tips for Couples planning their Wedding Day.

Organising a wedding doesn't have to be stressful. It can and should be a fun experience.

So just try to start planning and preparing as early as possible.

Make sure you both have a vision in mind about how you see your wedding day unfolding.

At the early stage it's good to write down ideas, dreams etc. Don't hold back as they are only ideas.

This is a great fun way to start.

Let your imagination run wild!!

As I've said previously, it's always a great idea to visit Wedding Fayres, as these are a wealth of information.

Take all the brochures and information that the exhibitors supply at these events, as these really are inspiring and informative to help you in the right direction.

Talk to other Married couples about their weddings, as They've been there done it.

Also, if possible, why not drop in on a few venues too. Take some pictures and write some information down about them. It's easy to have a brain overload and forget some of the finer details of the venues.

Sometimes depending on the venue, you can provisionally book out rooms for your Wedding party guests. There is nothing worse than people travelling long distances to be with you on your special day and having nowhere to stay afterwards.

Important - Make sure you read carefully through any contracts required before you sign them, and before you do, read them again!!

Remember though, it's your special day so if you want to be different, then be different.

If you want to walk down the Aisle and get Married dressed up as Star Wars characters, then you go for it!!

Note - If you want me to be "Your Magical Wedding Emcee" Dressed up as Chewbacca, this may not work as I can't speak Chewy and no one can understand what he says except Han Solo (Harrison Ford)

Hiring (Depending on budget) a Wedding Planner can also be useful to help you along the way.

You can also contact me direct and I can provide you with my "Run Sheet" free of charge.

This is really handy form that I can email to you, that I have compiled after 38 years of performing at weddings.

It takes you and your suppliers right through your Wedding Day and ensures everything run smoothly.

Save save save.

I'm not saying you have to go all out, but on such a special day, it's great to be a little extravagant!!!

Add lots of Personal touches to your day. These really make it special, and your guests will pick up and absolutely love this. Also, at this early stage, sometimes it's better not to let everyone know, what surprises you have in store.

As a Magical Wedding Emcee, I normally ask you, the Happy Couple and Top Table guests, not to divulge what's going to happen throughout the day, as a "Full Day Wedding Emcee Package" does contain some lovely surprises along the way.

Keeping things Shtum can also help avoid conflict with some of the more opinionated people that may be attending. Finding out how much you plan to spend on entertainment, food, flowers, cars, venues etc, can easily then be interfered with by them. They don't mean any harm. They just offer there 2cents and after all your hard planning, it can be disheartening.

Tell them kindly, they will just have to wait and see!!

Make each planning day in advance a celebration.

If you are going to try on your dress with the girls or suits with the lads, make it fun. Make a day of it.

A bite to eat or a cheeky tipple maybe, but obviously don't go crazy (unless I'm invited!!)

Also make sure the Groom and party's suits, compliment the dress.

When it comes to your food choices for the wedding breakfast, order what you would like to eat Try not to get caught up in the dietary requirements of your guests. A great venue will have the experience and alternative food options to look after most.

Make sure your cake is on a sturdy table and don't forget the knife!! I have seen this happen a lot in the early days where the cake is on view all day, and the organisers (for safety) have kept the knife out of view, with every intention of setting it at the right moment but forgot at the cake cutting time. That is on my Run Sheet.

When it comes to speeches, it's always a good idea to ask those who are speaking to keep it clean (Sensitive guests and in-laws), and my pet hate is Mic drop. You may have pulled off the Speech of the century, but that doesn't mean you can drop a very expensive Microphone on the table (I've seen this) and damage it beyond repair. Trust me, that can ruin the mood, and put an end to the speeches. It's no joke when the owner of the equipment is demanding compensation, halfway through the day.

Oh, and one more super dooper Tip Top Tip,

"Book that Magical Wedding Emcee from Wrexham". You know, "Paul Roberts"

No not that. (But do look him up)

On your big day, do take some really soft comfy shoes or flip flops. You can secretly slip these on, (no one will know!!) under your Wedding Dress as during the day and evening, you tend to be on your feet a lot, meeting and greeting family members and friends and these cushions of comfort, will help for the dancing and celebrations that normally occurs later!!!

Thank you for reading, and -
